Selesti have steadily built an extensive publishing website portfolio, and one of the finest feathers in that cap is the Outline Magazine project. The Content Management System we've delivered enables their staff to control thousands of pages of content, a directory, events and galleries.

Outline is one of the most popular magazine websites for young people in East Anglia, it gives a whole host of information about what’s on, music, and nightlife in and around the region. Outline Magazine has been at the forefront of providing students, teens and fashionable adults a huge resource of events and content for over 11 years. The free publication offers reviews & interviews on bands, gigs, clubs, films, games, documenting them all in their photo gallery - featuring in excess of 50,000 images spanning 8 years, with hundreds of galleries and venues.

One of the key objectives for their new site was to create a directory for bands, events, venues, shops, service providers, DJs, MCs and allow administrators from each of them to have secure access; creating their own free online profile.

Allowing members who have profiles to upgrade and add their own galleries, upload videos and promote their own events was absolutely key to ensure the site became monetised and increase membership. With an existing member database in excess of 25,000, we had to ensure all members were ported across seamlessly.

The directory was the central element to the site, binding all information together logically. We created a CMS with their bespoke user permission requirements, allowing members to sign up for their own profile as mentioned, but also for Outline to manage them if they wished.

Venues on the website range from pubs, bars, restaurants & nightclubs to shops and service providers. With this basic listing info assigned to some clever Google Map Mashups, the foundations were laid for some outstanding search functionality. Each venue can now create multiple events, several assigned to one day, span a date range and even create regular events that automatically show in the future. Each event can have band and DJ/MC profiles attached to them and galleries associated with the event past and present.
